| The "Self Chin" The "self chinchilla" is simply a chinchilla "Cchd" with the self gene "a" as opposed to the agouti gene "A". The self chin is a self color, but may be slightly faded or show slight shading aka "seal" than it's true full color "C" counterpart (i.e. black, blue, chocolate, lilac). The chinchilla "Cchd" gene may effect eye color causing blue eyes in the faux blacks (self chins) and lighter than normal eyes in faux blues (self squirrels). This is common in Jersey Woolies and Mini Rex, but does occur in any breed that carries the chinchilla gene in its gene pool. |
